The diagram above illustrates man's search to find himself. We use all of our senses to discover why we live and move as a human being. Everyone is attached to the process of aging in a human body. From birth to death we accumulate the experiences of life as the product of knowledge. It is only when we contemplate the ways of the world as they impact us personally that wisdom is gained. The wheel of life represented by the arrows keep turning. Through free will we can choose to make sense of this world. Otherwise the random occurrences of a life lived doesn't reveal the possibility of a higher state of awareness. Thus the idea of enlightenment as taught in many religious movements is always taught as something to obtain. The false teachings that flourish because of misunderstandings gain credibility because some teaching claims a fancy interpretation of what it would be like to achieve the exalted state of an enlightened master level positioned high on mountain in a heavenly kingdom.
The enlightened state is simply one who has learned how to live freely in a world with no imaginary boundaries. There are no rules and regulations that attach such a state of existence as some levitated realm in super-space.
Every human being has the potential to live freely no matter the physical bondages. It's inside one's thoughts and awareness, this is where the eternal kingdom has always been. The perfect religious state of being spiritual is a gift at the moment of human birth. The task is to find this level of awareness.
Teachings that develop complex contemplative methods coupled to strict Do's and Dont's have a place in society for those who need structure. If one closely examines the root religious movements of the past the teachers of the enlightened way had very little to say about entrainment and formal structuring. They taught release and faith in one's self worth to remove the concepts of doubt.
Do we really need a thousand lifetimes to figure this out?

Many spiritual groups rally around the concept of the art and science of enlightenment. It is one the most misunderstood spiritual revelations passed down through the centuries from the root religions of Buddhism, Hinduism, and Taoist movements. To reach an enlightened state of mind had no defintions that point to an arrival of some lofty spiritual state. Enlightenment is simply the dynamic reality of eternal awareness.
